Payments: Accepting payments with PayPal

How to use your PayPal business account to accept credit, debit and PayPal payments directly on your booking page

PayPal offers easy and convenient payments for your clients using credit and debit cards or a PayPal balance. PayPal is available to businesses in many countries.

PayPal payments are available on all plans.

Connecting your PayPal account

To connect your PayPal account to Introwise do these steps:

  1. Click on Payments in the top menu
  2. Scroll to Accepting payments section and click on Manage payment accounts
  3. Click on Connect button opposite to the PayPal section
  4. You'll be taken to PayPal where you can login to your existing PayPal account or create a new one. Review the requested permissions and confirm your PayPal account connection.
  5. Important: your PayPal account must be a business account. If you try to connect a personal account PayPal will ask you to upgrade to business, or to register a new one. Upgrading usually takes a few minutes and you will need to provide some additional info about your business.
  6. If you don't have a PayPal account, you can create a new one during the connection process. You'll be asked to provide information about you and your business, as well as banking details to receive payouts. PayPal securely handles your personal and financial information, and performs required verifications on your account.
  7. After you complete your PayPal account connection you'll be taken back to Introwise to finish the integration.

After your PayPal account is connected and verified your booking page is ready to accept payments automatically during booking. If PayPal is your only payment account it will be automatically selected as the default one.

To see the transactions history and issue refunds you can use your PayPal dashboard. Note: payment processed using PayPal will not be refunded automatically when you cancel a session, you'll have to issue refunds manually from your PayPal account.

Changing your payment processing to PayPal

Once your PayPal account is connected you can choose to use it as the default to process payments on your booking page. When PayPal is your default choice, Introwise automatically displays a PayPal payment button on your paid services and packages and processes payments during booking.

To make PayPal your default choice, click on Make default button in the PayPal section. To switch to a different payment account (e.g. Stripe, or No payments), simply make them default instead.

Disconnecting your PayPal account

To disconnect your PayPal account from Introwise do these steps:

  1. Click on Payments in the top menu
  2. Scroll to Accepting payments section and click on Manage payment accounts
  3. Click on Disonnect button opposite to the PayPal section
  4. You PayPal account will be disconnected from your Introwise account.

Your payment processing preference will be switched to No payments automatically. If you wish to keep accepting payments on your booking page, you'll need to select a different payment account (e.g. Stripe) as the default one, or connect a PayPal account again.

Troubleshooting

Payments are failing on my booking page

If your PayPal payments account is connected and you see the PayPal button on your booking page, but attempts to pay fail, this might mean that your PayPal account is suspended or had payment processing restrictions.

To troubleshoot this, check that the account that you're using is a business account, is not restricted and is verified. You can check this in your PayPal dashboard. Please contact us if you're still experiencing issues.

Payments from my clients are placed on a temporary hold

PayPal may temporary put a hold on a payment. To release your funds follow the instructions provided by PayPal. It may ask you to verify that you've provided the service to your client and the date when the service was provided.

If you switch your Introwise page currency, your first payment in that currency might require a manual approval on PayPal. Go to your PayPal account to approve the payment and tell PayPal what to do with future payments in the new currency.

It is recommended to verify your PayPal account before starting to accept payments to reduce the probability of your payments being placed on hold.
